Dallas draw Damaged Caps
Gauld’s always been better than Acosta anyway.
Following possibly the biggest win in Whitecap history, the boys in blue and white will travel down to the Lone Star State for a feisty affair against a rejuvenated FC Dallas team led by former 2023 MLS MVP Luciano Acosta.
Dallas had an overhaul similar to Vancouver during the off-season. Following the sacking of manager Nico Estévez in June 2024, Eric Quill took the spot of head coach replacing interim manager Peter Luccin in November of the same year. Dallas have been trying to build more identity in the recent years, upgrading the squad talent in the form of Peter Musa and newly acquired Lucho Acosta, one of the most dangerous forwards in all of MLS and FC Cincinnati’s star player for years.

Quill’s style of play has been rather refreshing for Dallas, taking advantage of his attacking firepower. Quill’s style is often described as aggressive and straight-forward.
Dallas will look to bounce back after a smash and grab loss at home to Chicago Fire, where after having a 1-0 lead up until the 80th minute, Chicago would unleash three quick-fire strikes to bewilder Dallas and take all three points.
Vancouver will look to keep the good times rolling as the true kings of the north would pull off an upset against Mexican giants Monterrey on Wednesday, advancing past Rayados on away goals to partake in a quarter-final clash against Pumas.
However, the strong start the ‘Caps season has not gone without consequences, as injuries are starting to pile up. After matchday 4, the Whitecaps will have played 8 games in 24 days, taking a toll on Vancouver’s captain Ryan Gauld, who suffered a devastating injury against Montreal last Saturday. Sørensen will look to rotate the squad, giving players like Berhalter and Veselinovic a well deserved rest.
Even with the rotated squad, I’m predicting a 2-0 win. Dallas have conceded 7 goals in 3 games and Jesper will look to exploit the cracks seeping through the back line.
