Does Gio Savarese’s squad have what it takes to take on Sporting Kansas City?

Preseason at Coachella
The Portland Timbers traveled to Coachella for preseason. They face the G’s of LA Galaxy, Toronto Fc, and New York City FC before their season opener against Sporting Kansas City at Providence park.
Major League Soccer is back!
The Portland Timbers and Gio Savarese are coming home after their preseason has ended. From their results going against LA Galaxy winning a comfortable score of 1-4 on February 12th. 3 days later they played Toronto FC which they tied 2-2. Their last game at Coachella the Portland Timbers won against New York City Fc 1-0 with Zac Mcgraw header assisted by Evander.
After months of waiting the Portland Timbers are getting ready to come back to the league stronger than ever.
The wait is finally over after a poor end to the season of 2022 for the Timbers. After missing the play-offs, we Timbers fans felt so mad and upset which we were thinking of what made us lose many points before play-offs. Although that happened last season the Portland Timbers won the Cascadia cup against the Seattle Sounders in August. Their first Cascadia Cup since 2017 and they won it in a 2-1 win at home against Seattle Sounders.
Players to watch
The Portland Timbers have a new face inbound. Evander Da Silva also known as Evander is looking forward to the competition of MLS. Many of us Portland Timbers fans are ready to see him live in action.
During preseason Evander has scored not once but twice for the Timbers but also 1 assist! Evander has contributed each game showing his quality he brings to the club and showing that he has the capacity to be one of the biggest stars in the MLS. The Portland Timbers have dropped a big amount for him but we could see why they would pay 10 million dollars for a player like him. He is yet to play at Providence Park but the Timbers Army and Rose City are ready to see him there!
Evander he isn’t the only one to see and be amazed by. Santiago Moreno is one of the biggest spotlight players for the Portland Timbers. Moreno (age 22), also known as “Santi,” and or “El Sachi” is ready to enter the 2023 season on fire. He has shown his potential but he can bring the Timbers so much more now that Evander is here. The Portland Timbers have had trouble with Sebastian Blanco after being a key player. Injuries have held him back so far, but with the signing of Evander he will be able to come off the bench and still be a good threat to the opponent. Santi is able to play mostly anywhere upfront such as winger both left and right and also attacking midfielder.
Yet another big upcoming player is Juan Mosquera. The Colombian right wing back can play many positions. He loves going attacking but also can come back and defend. This will be very important for this season for the Portland Timbers. After Van Rankins season loan ended they were in need of some fresh legs. Someone that can play with the ball and help the attack. With Mosquera on the pitch, he will be a game changer.
Who are the Portland Timbers facing?
The Portland Timbers are facing Sporting Kansas City but how has the previous of matches looked for them. Looking side by side the Portland Timbers and Sporting have both won a match between each other last season. The Timber last beat Sporting KC 7-2 at Providence Park on May 14th, 2022 before losing 3 months later 4-1 at Children’s Mercy Park on August 21.
