VANCOUVER - Three games remain in the regular season. Vancouver, looking for an opportunity to top the west, host the San Jose Earthquakes. One of the last opportunities at home to play with the roof open; a sunny Sunday afternoon in October brought bright sun, warm temperatures, and a nearly full house. The Whitecaps look to extend their lossless streak to 10 games, and more importantly gain an additional 3 points on the western table.
Vancouver tried to capitalize on some early high danger chances, Müller, Berhalter, and Priso all had solid opportunities to open the scoring as early as the 12th minute of the match. Elloumi would sweep a free kick lobbed from Berhalter in the 39th minute to open the scoring; his 2nd goal in 6 league appearances with the Whitecaps.
Müller scored a goal later in the game, but not to be outshined by Sebastian Berhalter, who scored two goals in the match as the Whitecaps sailed past the San Jose Earthquakes 4-1 as they push to be the best in the west and take the top seed going into the playoffs.
