Portland Timbers 2023 Summer Transfer Window Preview

Will the Timbers make the necessary moves to put the team back in contention?

So far, in 2023, the Portland Timbers are 5-7-8 in MLS. That computes to a total of 22 points, and the 10th spot in the Western Conference table. With their points per game sitting at 1.1, there is a feeling amongst everyone involved with the team (fans, players, coaches) that these 2023 Timbers are not a playoff team, much less a title contender. Despite some smart additions in the winter window, the Timbers are still incomplete. There are still open holes on the roster that must be fixed in order for this team to truly compete. Time for me to look at some players that the Timbers should be targeting in the summer in order to save their season. I will preface this by saying I do not have any insider info on these players. I do not know what players the scouting department is actually targeting. This is a look inside my head and what I would do if I was in their shoes. Also, I am not including any players that I think will be leaving the club in this window. Only incoming players will be looked at in this overview.
