VANCOUVER - After the buzz the World Cup created in the city of Vancouver we're all excited to be back to regular Whitecaps FC MLS home match-...oh wait not just yet.

First things first. The Canadian Championship Quarter Finals need to be sorted out before we can get back to MLS regular season (Aug 1st, 30,000 tickets already sold - means we've got an open upper bowl for a regular season MLS game (!!!!)).

Cavalry FC make the trip to Vancouver to play at... Swangard Stadium?

Some of you older than me, and more in tune with the history of the Whitecaps than me, might remember Swangard Stadium as the Home of the Whitecaps before the Whitecaps joined the MLS. Built in 1969 as a multi-use stadium, the Vancouver 86er's called Swangard home from 1986, right up until they exited the CSL for the MLS after the 2010 season. The Southsiders supporters group sings "Boundary Road" (https://vancouversouthsiders.ca/songs/boundary-road) before every match in honour of the former home stadium. This stadium means so much to some of the legacy fans, and what an experience to be "home" while BC Place was finishing up it's World Cup duties.

Brian White celebrated his 200th appearance with the Whitecaps, freshly returned (but not playing) Sebastian Berhalter was pitch side to deliver Brian's 200th appearance gift.

Scoring was not hard to come by, the Whitecaps opening the score sheet with an own goal from Cavalry FC in just the 2nd minute of the match. Cavalry would tie the match right before half, but the 2nd half was assault after assault by the Whitecaps with goals from Thomas Müller, Brian White, and Rayan Elloumi, and the match ending 4-1 Whitecaps after the 1st leg. A very steep hill to climb for Cavalry FC.
